Susan Sun promised she wasn't done with retail when she closed OPM boutique at Excelsior & Grand in St. Louis Park earlier this year. After months of selling online and searching for the perfect location, she's popping up, starting this Saturday, at 50th & France.
Along with the new location comes a new name: Equation. "We strongly believe that boutique shopping needs to be culminated in the perfect equation of styling, price, and brand," Sun says. In addition to Helmut Lang, Equipment, and other contemporary brands Sun's customers expect, she's partnering with a collector who will sell vintage home accessories and decor at the shop. Says Sun, "We share the same aestethic of loving edgier and fun items—animal prints, geometrics, and bright colors."
Sun is also eagerly anticipating the arrival of structured handbags by rising design star Sophie Hulme.
Located next door to Bespoke salon, Equation opens Saturday, Aug. 16, and plans to be in the space through Sept. 21. Hours are W-F 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sa 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Su 12 to 5 p.m. 3918 W. 49 1/2 St., Edina
